Lansdowne Middle Magnet Program

Introduction

At Lansdowne Middle School we offer the Magnet Program: Center for Career and Professional Study. In our program, students learn about financial literacy and college and career options through application lessons, field trips, and guest speakers.

Sixth Grade Program - JA Biztown

JA Biztown combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to a simulated town. This popular program allows students to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor. The program helps students connect the dots between what they learn in the school and the real world.

Seventh Grade Program - Career Exploration

Seventh grade students explore a variety of different career pathways through hands-on activities, speakers from a variety of fields, and visits to local businesses.
Students are exposed to pathways in the following: Medical & Science, Trade Professions, Arts & Entertainment, Education, Business & Retail Sale, Finance, Hospitality, and Engineering.

Eighth Grade Program - JA Finance Park

JA Finance Park teaches students about budgeting, money management, taxes, gross and net income, debit, credit, loans and more. This program gives our students a strong financial literacy foundation and students apply this knowledge to complete a virtual simulation.
