Attendance and Connect-Ed

STUDENT ATTENDANCE

Attendance is important.  Half of a student's grade is determined by daily classwork.  Not all of that work can be replaced by "make up" assignments.  Being in school to participate in the day's activities makes a difference.

To be "on time", students are to be seated in homeroom by 8:00 am unless given a pass by the homeroom teacher.

In order to enhance communication with parents at Lansdowne Middle School we have distributed an attendance information magnet. We ask that you keep this magnet on your refrigerator for easy locating, and call the number on it to report your child’s absence for the day.  For your convenience, the phone line has voice mail so it can be accessed in the evening or early morning.  Please make sure to mention the following when calling:

A written note including the information listed above and signed by the parent/guardian is due to the homeroom teacher on the day the student returns to school.

CONNECT-ED COMMUNICATION

Lansdowne Middle has implemented the Connect-Ed communication system, a system that automatically contacts parents via the telephone to advise them of events and absences.  In the event that your child is marked absent from school and we have not received a telephone call, the Connect-Ed system will call your home and leave a message to that effect.  The system will be tested on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 with a phone call to all students' households. If you believe that we do not have accurate phone numbers to contact you, please contact the main office with the correct information (410-887-1411).

ATTENDANCE REWARDS PROGRAM

LMS has an Attendance Rewards Program held monthly, quarterly and yearly. Students who have no absences or tardy's in the slated time frame will receive prizes, such as free entrance to dances, pizza coupons, etc.  Those students with perfect attendance all year will have their name added to the end of year drawing to win a bike.  In addition, the M.R. Bucks program recognizes and rewards regular attendance.
